Success! Implementation of Field Assessment of AUN-QA Certification for Da'wah Management Study Program

Monday, October 10, 2022 became one of the important days for the Da'wah Management (MD) Study Program, Faculty of Da'wah and Communication, UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. The reason is, the date marks the beginning of the development of the MD Study Program in penetrating the international arena by carrying out a field assessment held by the ASEAN University Network - Quality Assurance (AUN-QA). This assessment is carried out independently through writing a Self Assessment Report (SAR) by the SAR Team of MD Study Program, which then the AUN-QA assessors will check the condition (visitation) of the study program based on the information in the SAR.
A series of assessment activities took place online for 5 (five) days which ended on Friday, October 14, 2022. The first day was opened with an Opening Ceremony which was attended by Mr. Sittikorn Sukkaew from the AUN-QA Secretariat, the assessors consisting of: Prof. Ir. Dr. Shahrir Abdullah, Assoc. Prof. Hoang Dao Bao Tram (both MD Study Program assessors), Asst. Prof. Dr. Shahrir Abdullah, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jutarat Vibulphol, and Dr. Irene Villasenor (assessors for KPI / Islamic Broadcasting Communication Study Program), Rector of UIN Sunan Kalijaga, Prof. Dr. Phil. Al Makin and the leadership of the Rectorate, the Quality Assurance Agency (LPM) Team led by Dr. Muhammad Fakhri Hussein, M.Si., Chairman of the University Senate, Prof. Siswanto Masruri and his staff, Deans of Faculties throughout UIN Sunan Kalijaga, Lecturer representatives, and the Streaming Team (Zoom Management Team).
On the first day, a meeting was also held with the Dean of the Faculty of Da'wah and Communication, Prof. Dr. Hj. Marhumah, along with the vice dean, then with the SAR Team of each study program, and there was a live streaming of campus facilities to the AUN-QA assessor team.
The second day was filled with interviews between assessors and education personnel at the university, faculty and study program levels. There were also interviews with student representatives from year 1 (class of 2022) to year 4 (class of 2019) which were divided into 2 (two) interview sessions, namely session 1 for year 1 and 2 students, and session 2 for year 3 and 4 students. Each class consists of 5 (five) student representatives to be interviewed regarding the education and teaching process, study program curriculum, learning environment, teaching methods, graduate learning outcomes, facilities, and so on.
On the third day, it was the turn of MD Study Program alumni who had spread in various work areas to be interviewed by the assessors. Not to forget the employers, or "superiors" who are seniors in the workplace of each of these alumni. The interview with alumni aims to see the extent to which the effectiveness of the curriculum applied by MD Study Program in creating graduates who are capable and competent so that they are able to penetrate the world of work.
While the fourth day is a review of the assessment documents and clarification of the SAR results with what the assessors got from the interviewees (interviewees: staff, students, alumni, etc.) on the previous day. There are also additional suggestions and improvements aimed at the Da'wah Management Study Program so that it can be developed for the better. The Closing Ceremony closed the series of assessment activities on the fifth day, as well as delivering information about the notification of the results of the field assessment that had been carried out.
Separately, after the field assessment process was carried out, the Head of the Da'wah Management Study Program, Dr. (Cand) H. M. Toriq Nurmadiansyah, M. Si, stated that the AUN-QA certification for the MD study program was a leading step for the MD Study Program of the Faculty of Da'wah and Communication of UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. This step is an effort to build MD Study Program to be better in the future. The writing chairman of the AUN-QA Document SAR H. Muhammad Irfai Muslim, M. Si, in a separate session also conveyed and expressed gratitude that the AUN-QA certification activities for the Da'wah Management Study Program were carried out well and smoothly, this is all thanks to the support of all stakeholders in the Da'wah Management Study Program, Faculty of Da'wah and Communication UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta.
The AUN-QA field assessment aims to support the internationalization of the Da'wah Management study program to be able to compete in the global arena with other campuses connected through AUN-QA, as the mission of UIN Sunan Kalijaga in realizing an international class campus (World Class University). In addition, it is also to expand the knowledge of da'wah management, develop student skills, and build the character of graduates who are religious, professional, and humanist so that they can be absorbed in various jobs at the regional, national, and international levels.
This AUN-QA field assessment activity has been prepared since 2 (two) years earlier and can be carried out this year well and smoothly. As for the results or value of the certification, it will be informed in the span of + 2 (two) months after the implementation of the assessment. Prayers, hopes and good support from all parties are needed so that the implementation of this AUN-QA assessment can produce maximum results in order to realize an international standard MD Study Program.
